When we saw the announcement of the new iPad, we weren’t surprised to see Apple add the amazing retina display. We knew we had to get Save The Pencil HD ready asap, and after a non-stop 16 hour shift, we’d manage to update all the assets so they will look even more special on the new display.
Just to give you a feel for what this means we’ve prepared the image below. On the left, you can see a zoomed in view of HB at 200%. On the right you can see the exact same view as it would appear on a retina display. As you can see there is absolutely no blurring and the image looks as sharp as ever.
We can’t wait for you all to see how amazing Save The Pencil looks on the new iPad! Make sure it’s high on your download list!
We’ve worked our socks off over the past few weeks and are pleased to be able to say that v1.2 of Save The Pencil is now available so head on over to the App Store and get updating!
This version adds a bunch of new functionality and features, which we’re going to briefly run through now.
Firstly, Chapter 5 (Blueprint) is now live, with 15 brand new levels of pencil saving goodness. Chapter 5 introduces Teleport dots, which add a whole new dimension to the puzzles and are sure to test your grey matter! A new enemy is also introduced, this time, it’s scissors! We won’t spoil the surprise, but expect to get even more annoyed with these guys than you did with the paperclips and rulers!!!
We also added a few new items to the store. Firstly, you’ll see there’s a new wallpaper, which is not only pretty frickin’ awesome, but is also free! One condition, you have to have liked us on Facebook first. A small price to pay! We’ve also added bonus level packs. Bonus level packs each feature 10 brand new levels (including a new boss level) for existing chapters. Version 1.2 adds bonus packs for Lined Paper and Square Paper, so 20 new levels in total. Even if we say so ourselves, these levels are some of the best yet and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed if you choose to spend your hard earned Blue Dots on them.
The other major change is Game Center, where there are 8 new achievements. We hear your feedback and we’re going to be adding lots more exciting achievements in future updates, but for now, we hope what we have added will keep you content until then.
We’ve also fixed a few of the bugs you guys had told us about, the main one being using the green skip button within a level end sometimes caused a crash when you chose your option from the resulting pop-up. That’s now totally gone, so feel free to tap away.
Finally, there’s a new Game Center Syncing (G\Center Sync) option to the options page. All this does is run through all your achievements stored on the device and makes sure they’ve also been awarded on Game Center. We had a few issues with users not seeing all their achievements as complete due to connection issues with their devices whilst playing etc, so this gives you a way manually make sure it gets updated when you are sure you have a live connection to the net.
And that pretty much wraps it up. We hope you like the update and welcome any feedback. Now it’s back to the drawing board for Chapter 6! Who knows what it may be!
Version 1.1 of Save The Pencil will be released very shortly (or perhaps is out already!) so we thought we’d take a minute to explain the update. First the bad news however, v1.1 doesn’t feature any new levels. The good news is, we are making great progress on v1.2 which we hope will be available in early/mid March, and which will feature brand new levels, dot types and enemies, plus a few other surprises!
So back to v1.1, what are the changes? Well, the most significant change is the addition of a store. As you play the game you will earn Blue Dots. Each Blue Dot you visit will be added to your Blue Dot account, and these Blue Dots can be spent on various items such as level skips, level completions and other items such as wallpapers, unlockables, etc. If you don’t have enough time to collect Blue Dots, you can also purchase Blue Dots in the store.
To skip a level, press the new green skip button during play. This will ask you whether you want to skip or complete the level. A skip simple unlocks the next level. A complete not only unlocks the next level, but also awards you three stars on the current level. Even if you have already unlocked the next level, a complete can still be used to give you three stars!
We’ve given everyone 400 Blue Dots to start with for free! Oh, and if you go to the Store and click the like us on Facebook button, you’ll get 250 additional free dots! (Don’t worry if you have already liked us, you can still click the button and it will detect that you have liked us and give you the free dots too!).
Also in the update, a news ticker has been added to the Main Menu screen. Please keep an eye out for this, as we will regularly be changing the text, letting you know exciting updates and the latest news.
Other than that there are few minor bug fixes and menu changes.
If you have any issues or questions with the update, or bugs to report, please get in touch. You can find Perfect Dimension on Twitter or Save The Pencil on Twitter, or alternatively you can get in touch through the Save The Pencil support form at the bottom of the page.
We recently updated a bunch of our apps and added news tickers.
